Presentation and Influence in Sheffield
I had a super time in Sheffield last week, working with a NHS Team.
We looked at #influence #impact and #presentations
I delivered a day session for each group on tips and techniques on #presentationskills, how to #influence constructively and most importantly in have impact in your own authentic way.
I base my training around:
1️. What is your hook – your attention grabber? Is it a story? Is it a shocking statistic? Is it an analogy? Is it a metaphor? Or is it a question?
Then we move onto the depth of the course:
🔵 Credibility of you (Ethos) – letting something of yourself go. People engage with your personality and what makes you tick. So, tell them.
🔵 Understand your audience (Pathos) – who are they? Will you adapt your message? Don’t be frightened of them.
🔵 What is your logical and emotional argument (Logos)? We cover key emotions to connect into and essential points on telling a winning story to grab attention.
We cover a bit about visual aids, nerves and reflect on good, bad or ugly examples of speech, as well as some winning rhetorical techniques.
Lots of group interaction, videos, engagement and opportunity for questions.
On the second day, the team present individually to the group. Invariably there are nerves but the presentations are always inspiring. It consolidates and highlights learning points.

I love doing this…..the feedback is great.
It always surprises me as to how few people have presentation and influence training as they move up the organisational ladder. They slip into old styles of presentation that they see from colleagues who equally have not received any formal training.
My mission is to bring authentic, innovative and impactful storytelling into business!
